RB Estonia has signed a nearly 22 million euro contract to build the southern outdoor areas of the Rail Baltica Ülemiste Linda terminal, ERR reported. The agreement means all parts of the terminal are now covered by construction contracts.
Construction company Atemo will develop nearly 33,000 square metres on the terminal’s southern side, opening the station towards Ülemiste City and the airport.
The work will include a southern entrance and the adjacent South Square, the reconstruction of around 20,000 square metres of street space, and a tunnel beneath Suur-Sõjamäe Street.
“The most important components are Suur-Sõjamäe Street, which will be rebuilt to create a pedestrian passage beneath it, and South Square, which will connect Ülemiste City and Ülemiste Centre and create a coherent urban space and conditions for future developments,” Rail Baltic Estonia chief executive Anvar Salomets said.
He added that the future European Square would connect the terminal with the airport.
