New Ringhäälingu bus stops open in Tallinn

Bus passengers outside Estonia’s public broadcaster can now use the Ringhäälingu bus stops instead of the Gonsiori stop, ERR reported on its Terevisioon programme.

The new name commemorates the 100th anniversary of Estonia’s national broadcasting service. From Monday, the bus stop on the opposite side of the intersection, across from the current television building, also carries the Ringhäälingu name.

The changes are part of preparations for December 18, when 100 years will have passed since the first Estonian Radio programme went on air and broadcasting began.

A temporary exhibition in the bus shelter features photographs depicting the history of broadcasting over the past century. A photo gallery has also been opened slightly closer to the intersection.

Vikerraadio will broadcast an extensive series on the history of broadcasting, and a book on the subject will also be published.
