Santa Zukker opens landscape exhibition in Tallinn gallery

Artist Santa Zukker’s solo exhibition “Across Landscapes” opened at the Artius gallery in Tallinn on August 28, ERR reported. The exhibition brings together her work from the past year as well as earlier cityscapes with naive and futuristic elements.

“Across Landscapes” explores landscape not only as a real place but primarily as an internal and sensory space. Zukker combines realism with naive and surreal elements to create places that viewers recognise even though they do not exist in reality.

“Nature brought me to painting and also keeps me doing it. I perceive a sensory horizon in everything and everyone I see,” Zukker said.

The exhibition focuses on places that do not exist in reality but appear recognisable and familiar. They are landscapes between memory and imagination, which viewers may be seeing for the first time but may nevertheless recognise as personally familiar.

Zukker is a culture and art scholar and an artist. Her work focuses on conveying memories, moods and inner experiences. She has exhibited at several galleries and art institutions in Estonia.

“Across Landscapes” will remain open at the Artius gallery until October 28.
