20-year-old dies at Vilnius shopping centre despite rescue efforts

A 20-year-old man died at the Akropolis shopping centre in Vilnius on Wednesday evening despite first aid from pharmacy staff and efforts by paramedics, LRT and BNS report.

The incident occurred at about 7:40 p.m. on August 26. Police and medical personnel who arrived at the scene confirmed the man’s death. His body showed no signs of violence, and a pre-trial investigation has been opened to establish the cause of death.

According to police, the man had been seriously ill. The Delfi news portal reported that he had health problems.

Representatives of Akropolis told BNS that the man sought help at the Eurovaistinė pharmacy inside the shopping centre after feeling unwell. Pharmacy employees immediately provided first aid and called emergency medical services.

Paramedics continued efforts to save his life, but were unable to do so, said Paulius Pocius, head of marketing and communications at Akropolis Group.
