Two Estonian citizens may be missing after floods and mudslides struck northern Nepal, ERR reported, citing the Estonian Foreign Ministry.

The ministry said it had information that the two may have been in the China Nepal border area when the floods and mudslides occurred and that contact with them had been lost.

Estonia’s honorary consul in Nepal is in contact with local authorities to obtain further information, the ministry said.

The ministry urged all Estonians in the region to contact their relatives in Estonia as soon as possible and register their trip on the ministry’s website.

Extensive flooding hit the border area between Tibet, which belongs to China, and Nepal on Wednesday. According to information available on Thursday morning, at least 162 people had died and about 400 tourists were missing, including 341 foreign nationals.
