CSDD clients can check personal data stolen in cyberattack

Clients of Latvia’s Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD) whose personal data was affected by a cyberattack can now use CSDD e-services to see which data sets were obtained, LSM reported, citing the CSDD.

After logging into their profiles on the e-services portal e.csdd.lv, clients can check whether their personal data was obtained during the attack. If it was, they can view the relevant data categories and the specific information involved.

The information is shown exactly as it was obtained in the cyberattack and came into the attackers’ possession. The data was obtained in an unstructured and incomplete form from a payment receipt table.

CSDD advises clients not to share the information publicly or publish it on social media. Since a large number of CSDD clients were affected, the data could potentially be used for various types of fraud.

The agency urges clients to be cautious and verify any information they receive through e.csdd.lv rather than using links provided in emails or text messages.

CSDD also recommends installing the DNS Firewall app developed by Cert.lv on smart devices. The app blocks fraudulent calls and messages, as well as dangerous websites. Users are also advised to review security recommendations issued by eParaksts for eParaksts mobile users.
