Officers’ unions to press prime minister on pay and benefits

Officers’ trade unions will meet Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius on Thursday to discuss the situation in statutory services and working conditions, LRT reported.

The National Association of Officers’ Trade Unions will raise the need for competitive salaries, stronger social guarantees and greater involvement of officers’ representatives in decision-making.

The association said internal security was inseparable from the country’s overall security and resilience. It expects the government to propose concrete solutions for funding statutory services and attracting and retaining officers, rather than merely acknowledging existing problems.

The unions also want to hear what specific measures the government plans to take during the remainder of its term and what long-term steps it envisages to strengthen statutory services.
