EKRE loses support and falls to fifth in Estonian poll

Support for Estonia’s Conservative People’s Party of Estonia, known as EKRE, has fallen by 1.9 percentage points over the past four weeks, pushing it from third to fifth place in the party ratings, ERR reported, citing a Norstat poll commissioned by the Institute for Social Studies.

The three most popular parties have maintained stable support. Isamaa is backed by 25.7 percent of eligible voters, followed by the Centre Party at 22.3 percent and the Social Democratic Party at 14.4 percent.

They are followed by the Reform Party with 13 percent, EKRE with 12.7 percent, Parempoolsed with 6.4 percent and Eesti 200 with 1.6 percent.

Based on the current support figures, Isamaa would win 29 seats in the Riigikogu, Estonia’s parliament. The Centre Party would take 25 seats, the Social Democratic Party 15, the Reform Party 13, EKRE 13 and Parempoolsed six.

The coalition parties were supported by a combined 14.6 percent of respondents, while opposition parties represented in the Riigikogu were backed by 75.1 percent.

The latest results cover the polling period from July 27 to August 23. Norstat surveyed 4,000 Estonian citizens eligible to vote.
