LRT reports that as the cyclone moves away from Lithuania, dry and sunny weather is expected in the middle of the week, with temperatures rising to 25 degrees Celsius. The warmth will be short-lived, however, as a new band of rain is expected to arrive by the weekend, according to Teresė Kaunienė, a forecaster with the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service.

Weather over the next 24 hours will still be influenced by the trough of the cyclone that affected Lithuania over the weekend.

On Tuesday night, brief rain is possible in some areas, with a higher chance in eastern districts and along the coast. Short, mostly light showers are expected in many places during the day, particularly in the afternoon, and thunderstorms are possible in some areas. Northwesterly winds will strengthen to 7 to 12 metres per second.

Temperatures will range from 8 to 13 degrees overnight, reaching 14 to 16 degrees on the coast, and will rise to 17 to 21 degrees during the day.

Higher pressure will strengthen across the region on Wednesday, gradually bringing drier weather and clearing skies. The night is expected to be rain-free, although fog is possible in some places. Brief rain may fall during the day, mainly in southern Lithuania, with light winds from the north. Temperatures will drop to 7 to 12 degrees overnight, or 14 degrees on the Curonian Spit, and rise to 18 to 23 degrees during the day.

Thursday will be dry and sunny as an anticyclone settles over the country. Temperatures will reach 19 to 24 degrees during the day, after falling to 6 to 11 degrees overnight, with slightly warmer conditions in some places.

Mostly sunny and dry weather will continue on Friday. Winds will turn southeasterly, reaching 4 to 9 metres per second at night and strengthening to 7 to 12 metres per second during the day. Temperatures will be around 7 to 12 degrees overnight, or 13 to 15 degrees on the Curonian Spit, and rise to 20 to 25 degrees during the day.

Rainier weather is expected to return on Saturday, when a new Atlantic cyclone reaches Lithuania and a cold atmospheric front passes through. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast in many areas both at night and during the day, while winds will strengthen. Southeasterly winds of 7 to 12 metres per second are expected at night, turning southerly and strengthening to 9 to 14 metres per second during the day.

Temperatures on Saturday will range from 11 to 16 degrees overnight and reach 17 to 22 degrees during the day.

Sunday is expected to be calmer and fairly warm, but rain will remain possible.
