Prodigyboys knew Tiger would be a hit

Estonian group Prodigyboys knew their song Tiger had hit potential as soon as they finished it, the group’s members Leis and Beebi told Raadio 2, according to ERR.

Released at the beginning of this summer, Tiger is Prodigyboys’ biggest hit to date. The group’s members began making music at the ages of 13 and 14. After working together for several years, other members joined them and they continued as Prodigyboys.

The group released its debut album, Nihilism, in November 2022. It is now completing its second album, whose next single will be released on Friday.

“We are also writing and producing music for others at the moment, so our days are entirely filled with music,” Beebi said. Leis added that the group currently makes a living from all of its projects.

Prodigyboys’ music combines several styles, including songs influenced by the 1980s, modern club tracks and blends of different genres. Leis described it simply as “pop plus rap.”

The members said Tiger’s success did not surprise them. They wrote and recorded the demo while travelling in Crete. With four days of the trip still remaining, nobody could get the song out of their head, and by the end of the journey they were convinced it would be a hit.

Beebi said the group’s name was inspired by The Prodigy, the British electronic music group that was his childhood favourite. He recalled having a video of himself jumping to Firestarter when he was three years old.

Leis and Beebi were childhood friends before they began making music together. Beebi said their friendship helps them resolve disagreements, while Leis said they were very good at finding compromises.
