Stenbock House opened a condolence book on Sunday in memory of former Estonian Prime Minister Siim Kallas, who died on August 22, ERR reported. The first entry was signed by President Alar Karis.
The condolence book is available in the Hall of Angels at Stenbock House until 5 p.m. on Sunday. From Monday, people can sign it on working days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The book will close on the day before Kallas’s funeral and will then be given to his family. Condolences can also be submitted through an electronic condolence book on the government’s website.
Kallas served as Estonia’s prime minister, foreign and finance minister, president of Eesti Pank, vice-president of the European Commission and a member of parliament multiple times.
He was one of the authors of the Self-Managing Estonia proposal, a leader of Estonia’s 1992 currency reform and a founder of the Estonian Reform Party. His work significantly influenced the development of Estonia’s economic system after the restoration of independence and the country’s integration with the European Union and NATO.
