President Alar Karis and his wife hosted guests at the presidential rose garden for a concert marking the 35th anniversary of the restoration of the Republic of Estonia, ERR reported. The celebration was dedicated to Estonia and featured performances by popular Estonian musicians.
The programme included 35 songs by Estonian composers, conductor and artistic director Rasmus Puur said. The selection was intended to be energetic and festive, allow people to dance and feel joy, and represent different eras.
Puur said the orchestra performing at the reception was assembled specially for the occasion. It included musicians born and raised in a free Estonia, with the VHK string orchestra and young wind, band and percussion musicians taking part.
Most of the musicians had also marked the same anniversary five years earlier at the Song Festival Grounds, Puur said.
