Actor Taavi Eelmaa said at the president’s rose garden reception that if he made a cat dedicated to Estonia’s 35th anniversary of restored independence, it would be exceptionally strong, well-mannered and lyrical, ERR reported.

“This cat would look very clean and very well-mannered, but exceptionally strong. It would look a little as if it had been made at Milrem or Frankenburg, but it would still have a lyrical nature,” Eelmaa said.

The song giving the cat its spirit would be “Päike” by Eelmaa’s band Apparatus and Apparata, with lyrics by Juhan Jaik.

Eelmaa said he was a full-time cat man and rarely appeared on stage as an actor. His everyday work now involves making plaster cats.

“Cats bring joy, and that probably shows. They have never let me down,” Eelmaa said.
