Police launch “Traps” operation to find escaped drunk-driving suspect

State Police are searching in Ventspils for Saimons Paučs, who fled from officers after being detained for driving under the influence and without a driving licence, LSM reports.

Police said they had no information indicating that Paučs was dangerous. They have launched the “Traps” plan to find him, resulting in increased police checks in Ventspils.

On Thursday, a judge ordered Paučs held in custody in his absence. State Police have opened criminal proceedings against him for escaping, as well as an internal service investigation.

Paučs was born in 1999 and is approximately 170 centimetres tall. He was wearing a grey tracksuit and white sports shoes.
