Sinkevičius to meet Lithuanian community and film creators in Latvia

Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius will meet Latvia’s Lithuanian community and the creative team behind the film Flood in Riga on Wednesday, LRT reported.

Sinkevičius is making his first foreign visit as prime minister to Latvia. He has repeatedly stressed the need to intensify Lithuania’s relations with its closest Baltic and Scandinavian neighbours.

He has said that shared security interests require closer cooperation in the military, infrastructure and other fields.

The prime minister will be in Riga on August 19 and 20. During his visit, Finance Minister Taurimas Valys will serve as acting prime minister.

BNS reported that before becoming prime minister, Sinkevičius had said he would like to make his first foreign visit to Germany.
