Scammers steal more than €11,000 from two seniors

Two seniors lost more than €11,000 from their bank accounts in separate scams, LRT reported, citing Vilnius police.

Police received a report on Monday from a 73-year-old woman, who said unknown callers had contacted her at home in Vilnius for more than a month, from July 3 to August 14. Claiming to be employees of an investment fund, the callers fraudulently took €9,394 from her.

Police also received a report from a man born in 1942, who said €1,760 had been taken from his bank account at about 7:45 a.m. on Saturday.

Pre-trial investigations have been opened into both cases.
