Rain and cooler weather will dominate Lithuania this week, with conditions resembling the start of autumn before temperatures rise toward the weekend, LRT reported, citing Teresė Kaunienė, a forecaster with the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service.

A cyclone moving south through Belarus will influence the weather over the next day. Tuesday night will be cloudy with some clear spells. Rain will begin in the southernmost part of the country after midnight and spread across most of southeastern Lithuania. Some areas may see heavy rain and thunderstorms, while the northwest will have only brief, scattered rain. Winds will be light nationwide.

Tuesday will remain overcast, with heavy rain expected in southern and eastern districts. Brief rain is also likely in many western areas. Temperatures will range from 9 to 14 degrees Celsius overnight and around 15 degrees on the coast. Daytime temperatures will reach 16 to 21 degrees.

As the cyclone moves away on Wednesday, there will be less precipitation. Brief showers are expected in some places during both the night and day. Temperatures will fall to 8 to 13 degrees before dawn, and to 14 to 16 degrees on the coast. Southwesterly and southerly winds will strengthen during the day, with gusts of 7 to 12 metres per second. Afternoon temperatures will reach 18 to 23 degrees.

Rainy weather will continue on Thursday and Friday, driven by another cyclone moving across Scandinavia, Kaunienė said. Brief showers are expected in many places on Thursday, with thunderstorms possible in some areas. Rain will affect southwestern Lithuania on Friday night, while brief showers are forecast in many districts during the day.

Thursday temperatures will range from 11 to 16 degrees overnight and from 19 to 24 degrees during the day. Friday night will be cooler, at 9 to 14 degrees, before temperatures rise to 20 to 25 degrees during the day.

The weekend will bring further changes. Although the weather will remain wet, it will be fairly warm. Saturday night is expected to be drier, while brief showers will return to many parts of the country on Saturday and Sunday.
