Prosecutors in Kaunas have sent a case against three people to court over the illegal acquisition, possession, transport and distribution of narcotic and psychotropic substances. One defendant also faces a charge of possessing pornographic material depicting children, LRT reported.

According to prosecutors, in May 2024, R. D. and T. J. acted together to acquire and possess 49.445 grams of cannabis resin for distribution.

R. D. allegedly advertised the drugs for sale on an online messaging app and sold them to a person acting under a pre-trial judge’s authorisation to conduct simulated criminal activity. That same day, R. D. and T. J. transported the drugs to an agreed location in Kaunas. T. J. hid them near a building, while R. D. provided information about their location.

Investigators allege that in October 2024, another defendant, L. Š., hid psychotropic substances at eight locations around Kaunas on R. D.’s instructions. L. Š. photographed the hiding places, recorded their coordinates and passed the information to R. D. Police later found and seized the substances.

During searches of L. Š.’s home and the car he used that same month, officers found more than 78 grams of a crystalline substance containing between 75% and 84.3% of the psychotropic substance 3-CMC. Cannabis and other psychotropic substances were also found and seized.

R. D. is additionally accused of acquiring and storing two pornographic videos depicting children on his mobile phone in December 2020.

R. D., T. J. and L. Š. face charges of illegally possessing narcotic or psychotropic substances with the intent to distribute them. R. D. is also charged with possessing pornographic material depicting a child.

The maximum penalty provided by law for these offences is up to 10 years in prison.

The case has been transferred to the Kaunas Chambers of the Kaunas District Court. The pre-trial investigation was led by a prosecutor from the Organised Crime and Corruption Investigation Division of the Kaunas Regional Prosecutor’s Office and carried out by officers from the Organised Crime Investigation Board of the Kaunas County Police.
