Military helicopter transports donor organ to Vilnius

A Lithuanian Armed Forces Air Force helicopter transported a donor organ to Vilnius at the request of the National Transplant Bureau, LRT reported.

The Mi-8T helicopter took off at about 5:02 p.m. from the Armed Forces’ second search and rescue post in Kaunas, according to a statement from the Lithuanian Armed Forces.

After successfully delivering the organ to Vilnius, the helicopter returned to Kaunas at about 7 p.m., where its crew resumed duty.

Transporting donor organs is one of the Lithuanian Armed Forces’ peacetime tasks. The Air Force carries out such transfers under a cooperation agreement with the National Transplant Bureau.
