Rescuers search for person missing in sea off Palanga

Rescue services were called to search for a person who went missing in the sea near the bridge in Palanga on Saturday, LRT reports. Divers were also involved in the operation.

The State Fire and Rescue Department said it received a report about a person drowning near the Palanga bridge and dispatched emergency services to the scene.

The initial report referred to a man who had drowned, while later information suggested that a teenager may have gone missing in the water. The department said there was not yet precise information about what had happened.

Witnesses told LRT that holidaymakers in the resort had also joined the search, wading into the water while holding hands in the hope of finding the missing person.
