Warm spell will reach 30 degrees before rain returns

Lithuania will have dry, summer-like weather on Friday, with temperatures reaching 27 degrees, LRT reported, citing Simona Dalinkevičiūtė, a forecaster with the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service.

There will be few clouds and no rain. Moderate southwesterly to westerly winds will blow, while daytime temperatures will range from 22 to 27 degrees.

Saturday night will be mostly clear and dry, with light winds and temperatures of 11 to 16 degrees before dawn. More clouds will develop during the day, particularly in the afternoon, but rain is not expected. Winds will strengthen to 5 to 10 metres per second, and temperatures will rise to 25 to 30 degrees.

Sunday will also be hot. A new cyclone and frontal system will approach from the west, bringing denser clouds and a chance of brief rain and thunderstorms later in the day. Night-time temperatures will range from 13 to 18 degrees, reaching about 20 degrees on the coast. Daytime temperatures will again reach 25 to 30 degrees, although some places in western Lithuania will be cooler at 19 to 24 degrees.

Short periods of rain will become more frequent at the start of next week, mainly in some places at night and across a larger part of the country during the day. Thunderstorms will be possible in some places on Monday, with the risk decreasing on Tuesday. Winds will strengthen, with gusts of up to 16 metres per second possible on the coast on Monday night. Night-time temperatures will range from 11 to 16 degrees, while daytime temperatures will be about 19 to 24 degrees.
