International music camp brings young musicians to Võrumaa

Rogosi Manor, a historic manor house near Haanja, is hosting an international music camp that has brought young musicians, recognised instructors and classical music enthusiasts from Estonia and several other countries to Võrumaa, ERR reported.

More than 15 pianos have been brought into the manor’s halls for the camp. Students from 20 schools in 11 countries are taking part.

Artistic director Diana Liiv said the camp brings together musicians from different generations and offers opportunities for performers of all ages and on all instruments. The participants include children from Rõuge municipality and Võru Music School, as well as around 30 university students and graduates who are continuing to develop their skills.

Participants said the historic manor building and the surrounding nature create favourable conditions for concentrating on classical music. The setting has also allowed them to learn new pieces quickly, including a Mozart sonata that one participant said could be prepared in a few days rather than a month.

During the camp, young musicians will perform the pieces they have learned on smaller and larger stages across Võrumaa.
