Riga Eastern Hospital has helped more than 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers over the past four years, LSM reported. On Thursday, medical staff received another group of wounded soldiers transported from Ukraine.
The latest group consisted of 27 soldiers injured in fighting against Russian invading forces. They arrived in two specially equipped buses, described as hospitals on wheels. Some were able to walk independently, while others were lifted from the buses using special equipment.
Doctors immediately examined the soldiers and carried out the necessary tests to determine who required treatment at the hospital, who needed surgery and who could continue to rehabilitation.
Medical staff said teamwork was essential to ensuring successful treatment. The soldiers are recovering from serious injuries so they can return to normal life.
