Girl and 10-year-old allegedly attack children in Kaunas park

Two alleged assaults involving children were reported in a park on V. Krėvės Avenue in Kaunas on Wednesday evening, LRT reported, citing the Police Department. A girl allegedly assaulted a 12-year-old boy, while a 10-year-old allegedly injured a nine-year-old.

At 9:23 p.m., a woman born in 1987 contacted the Kaunas County Chief Police Commissariat and reported that an unknown girl had assaulted her son, who was born in 2014, at around 7:50 p.m. The girl’s identity is being established.

A pre-trial investigation has been opened into causing physical pain or a minor health impairment.

The second incident occurred at around 8 p.m. during a conflict between children in the same park. A child born in 2016 allegedly threatened and injured another child, born in 2017. The nine-year-old refused medical assistance, and both children were handed over to their parents at the scene.

Police found a knife in the park and are determining whether it was used during the incident. Material has been collected over a suspected breach of public order.

The 10-year-old is unlikely to face charges because criminal liability in Lithuania begins at age 14 and applies only to certain crimes, including murder.
