Scammers steal 8,400 euros from three Lithuanian residents

LRT reported, citing police, that scammers stole about 8,400 euros from three people in Marijampolė and Tauragė counties.

Police in Marijampolė County said a woman born in 1946 contacted officers on Wednesday after finding that money had been taken from her bank account and transferred to an unknown person. She reported financial losses of 4,929 euros.

In Tauragė, a woman born in 1961 told police on August 3 that her bank card had been used to withdraw money. Her losses amounted to 2,300 euros.

Police in Tauragė County also said that on August 5, at 8:27 p.m., a man born in 1987 from Šilutė received a text message about an illegally parked vehicle. He clicked on a link in the message and entered his online banking details. A transfer was then made, causing him to lose 1,204.90 euros.

Pre-trial investigations have been opened into the suspected fraud cases.
