Tallinn offers Linnahall ice hall for temporary shooting range

Tallinn has offered the unused ice hall at Linnahall to the Defence League for a possible temporary indoor shooting range, ERR reported, citing Deputy Mayor Kristjan Järvan.

Järvan said he had sent the Defence League’s Tallinn unit a letter proposing that a shooting range could be built in the empty hall if there was interest from the Tallinn unit and the Defence Investments Centre.

He said Tallinn currently has no shooting range for the Defence League, whose Tallinn unit members travel to Männiku, outside the city’s administrative boundaries.

The details and cost of the project are not yet clear. Järvan said the range would be temporary and could operate until Tallinn decides on the future of Linnahall.

He said the proposal forms part of the city’s broader process concerning Linnahall. Regardless of which option Tallinn chooses with the private sector, there will likely be a gap of several years during which the building could be used temporarily, he said.

“Why not use it to develop national defence skills?” Järvan said.
