Rain expected before summer warmth returns in Lithuania

Short-lived rain is expected at the start of the week, but summer weather will return from midweek, LRT reports, citing Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service forecaster Paulius Starkus.

Tuesday will bring variable cloud cover and a chance of brief rain in the afternoon. Heavier rain is forecast in northern Lithuania, with thunderstorms and possibly small hail in some places. Stronger wind gusts are expected, reaching 15 to 18 metres per second on the coast. Temperatures will range from 18 to 23 degrees Celsius.

Clouds will clear on Wednesday night, although brief showers will remain possible in some areas. Temperatures will fall to 8 to 13 degrees. The day will be partly cloudy, with more sunshine and highs of 19 to 23 degrees.

The chance of rain will be low on Thursday. Overnight temperatures will range from 7 to 12 degrees, while daytime temperatures will reach 19 to 24 degrees.

According to the forecaster, the end of the week should bring sunny, summer-like warmth. Temperatures are expected to reach 26 degrees on Friday and 29 degrees on Saturday.
