Prosecutors send three accused in Klaipėda drug case to court

Prosecutors have sent a criminal case against three people accused of possessing and distributing drugs to the Klaipėda Regional Court, LRT reported.
A prosecutor from the Klaipėda Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a prosecution office, completed the pretrial investigation into the alleged possession of a very large quantity of narcotic or psychotropic substances and their distribution.
The case was investigated by officers from the organised crime investigation division of the Klaipėda County Chief Police Commissariat. The Klaipėda County Police said three people had been charged.
A 23 year old man is accused of illegally possessing a very large quantity of drugs and distributing them. A 21 year old man is accused of drug distribution, while a 22 year old woman is accused of possessing a narcotic substance without intending to distribute it.
The investigation began in the summer of 2025 after authorities received information about the alleged drug distribution activities of the 23 year old Klaipėda resident, who had no previous convictions and was self employed.
In July 2025, officers detained the 22 year old woman on Sulupe Street in Klaipėda and found about 2 grams of cannabis in her possession.
In October, officers detained the 23 year old man on Minija Street in Klaipėda on suspicion of supplying cannabis to the woman. During searches of his home and garage, officers found narcotic and psychotropic substances, two grinders, four electronic scales and a vacuum sealing machine.
As the investigation continued, officers detained the 21 year old man on Mokykla Street in Klaipėda. More than 100 grams of cannabis was found on him and at his home.
The 21 year old and 23 year old suspects were initially detained and held in custody. They were later ordered to remain in the country, surrender their documents and report periodically to a police station. The woman was ordered to remain in the country.
Possessing narcotic or psychotropic substances without intending to distribute them is punishable by community service, a fine, restriction of liberty, arrest or up to two years in prison. Possession with the intent to distribute carries a prison sentence of between two and eight years, while possession of a very large quantity carries a sentence of between 10 and 15 years.
