Three parties agree to form coalition in Pärnu

Isamaa, EKRE and the Centre Party have agreed to form a new coalition in Pärnu, ERR reported, citing Pärnu City Council Chairman Andrei Korobeinik of the Centre Party.

The parties will sign the coalition agreement on Tuesday at noon at Villa Ammende, where they will also present the coalition’s main agreements and Pärnu’s new city leaders.

After nearly two weeks of negotiations, the parties have agreed on the coalition’s principles, division of responsibilities and key objectives. The final round of talks will take place on Tuesday morning.

At the public press conference beginning at noon, representatives of Isamaa, EKRE and the Centre Party will sign the agreement and outline its main provisions. They will also announce the composition of the new city government and the allocation of political responsibilities.

The coalition will hold 22 of the 39 seats on Pärnu City Council.

An extraordinary council meeting to replace the city’s leaders is scheduled for Monday, August 17.

At the end of July, Korobeinik accused Mayor Kristel Voltenberg of interrupting discussions about the coalition’s functioning and breaking agreements. EKRE, the Centre Party and Isamaa submitted a motion of no confidence in Voltenberg last week.
