Lithuania records no migrants crossing illegally from Belarus

Lithuania recorded no migrants illegally crossing its border with Belarus during the previous 24 hours, LRT reported, citing the State Border Guard Service.

Latvian border guards turned back 67 migrants on Saturday, while Poland recorded no attempts to enter the country illegally on Friday.

More than 1,000 irregular migrants have been denied entry to Lithuania so far this year. Last year, people attempted to enter the country from Belarus through unauthorised locations more than 1,600 times. The figure was 1,002 the year before.

Since the beginning of the migration crisis created by Belarus, Lithuanian border guards have prevented more than 25,600 foreign nationals from entering the country illegally.

The influx of migrants from Belarus to the eastern EU member states began in 2021. Western countries accuse the Minsk regime of organising it.
