Lithuanians registered 10,600 wills in first half

Lithuania’s residents made 10,600 wills in the first half of 2026, LRT reported, citing data from the Ministry of Justice.

Women registered wills considerably more often than men, with 7,441 wills recorded for women and 4,759 for men. In 2025, women made 16,300 wills and men about 10,000.

Residents aged 70 to 80 registered the most wills this year, with 3,713. People aged 60 to 70 registered 3,367 wills.

The Register of Wills also received 19,739 acts confirming the acceptance of an inheritance and 2,291 acts confirming the renunciation of an inheritance during the six-month period.

Register data on wills and decisions to accept or renounce an inheritance are provided only after the testator’s death.
