Arg Part, Säm and Ollie lead ERR’s new music Friday

ERR’s latest new music roundup features releases by Estonian artists Arg Part, Säm, Ollie and others, alongside new tracks from Sam Smith, Karol G and Ravyn Lenae.

Arg Part and Säm release “Emotikon”

The band Arg Part and rapper Säm have joined forces for their first collaborative single, “Emotikon”. The track aims to be a love song, but a third person is also involved.

“It is very difficult to win a girl’s attention when her gaze has already been captured by a screen,” said Karl Vilhelm Valter, Arg Part’s vocalist, describing the song’s background.

Popidiot and Kristel Eplik release “Kas sa nutaks”

The Finnish-Estonian electropop duo Popidiot has released the new single “Kas sa nutaks” through the record label Seksound, featuring Kristel Eplik.

It is Popidiot’s second consecutive single in Estonian, and the band said the language could become even more important in its music. The track’s sound draws on old analogue drum machines and synthesizers. Rein Fuks wrote the music and lyrics, Erko Niit mixed the track and Lauri Liivak mastered it.

Helen and Reket release “Samu tähti”

Helen and Reket have released “Samu tähti”, a song about invisible points of contact between people and the questions that connect everyone. Steven Ilves produced the single, which was written by Emili Jürgens and Reket.

Ollie releases “Drown”

Ollie, who gained recognition at Eesti Laul, has released “Drown”, the opening track of his forthcoming album. The song addresses inner demons, a mental low point and the daily internal struggle.

K.D. Servellón releases “Ootan muutust (Diivani peal)”

The creators describe “Ootan muutust (Diivani peal)” as strange, illogical and dreamlike. Kevin Daniel wrote and produced the song, Christofer Nõmm played electric guitar and drums, and Mattias Pärt mastered it.

Mamu Thao releases “Wing” video

The band Mamu Thao has released a psychedelic music video for “Wing” alongside its new album.

According to the band, the song was born from exhausting Sunday and Monday mornings when, amid birdsong and sunshine, people gather their last reserves of energy to unleash a powerful howl against an unjust society. The band said its next record will definitely also feature the track “Wirin”.

Andreas releases “Paradise”

Andreas wrote and produced his new summer single “Paradise”. Daniil Kotilevitš was responsible for mixing and mastering the track.

Andreas created the song as a kind of time capsule preserving memories of a trip to Hiiumaa with friends last summer. He described the track as simultaneously nostalgic, bittersweet and warm, and said his greatest wish was for it to become an inseparable part of this August’s soundtrack.

Robert Linna and Kristel Aaslaid release “Kuum”

Robert Linna and Kristel Aaslaid have released a single as an unexpected duo. “Kuum” is a fresh interpretation of Code One’s hit of the same name, combining elements of indie and country rock.

“Quite a lot of the hits from that era actually have really cool harmonies, and ‘Kuum’ is certainly one of the songs I have wanted to make my own version of for a long time,” Linna said. He added that Kristel Aaslaid was an exceptionally talented and distinctive singer and the ideal choice for the track.

“Kuum” is the fourth single from Robert Linna’s debut solo album, due to be released in autumn.

Man/Woman/Chainsaw releases “Canyons”

The London indie rock band Man/Woman/Chainsaw opens its debut album “Cannonball” with “Canyons”, a track driven by violin runs. The indie rock album combines shoegaze and folk elements and moves across a wide emotional range, at times inviting listeners to dance and at others prompting reflection.
