Olekas says Lithuania is ready to minimise Russian provocations
Lithuanian Parliament Speaker Juozas Olekas said Lithuania is prepared to minimise any possible Russian provocations, LRT reported on Thursday.
Olekas said Lithuania had sufficient intelligence from its institutions and allies to prepare for and prevent potential threats. He said Russia’s actions remained difficult to predict, but added that Lithuania’s defence measures were making its borders increasingly difficult to breach.
“There is no need to run anywhere, buy villas elsewhere or otherwise leave Lithuania,” Olekas told LRT television. He said Lithuania’s armed forces, its allies, the incoming German brigade and US forces were signalling their readiness to minimise any possible provocations.
