Denisa-Liepniece leaves State Chancellery to pursue academic career

Solvita Denisa-Liepniece has left her position as head of the State Chancellery’s Strategic Communication and Coordination Department to pursue an academic career and focus more on research, LSM reported, citing the State Chancellery and news agency LETA.

She left the post on Thursday, August 6. Denisa-Liepniece took up the position on April 14 last year after successfully completing an open competition.

During her tenure, she led the State Information Space Security Coordination Group and worked on an interinstitutional working group on the conduct of elections.

Denisa-Liepniece specialises in strategic communication and cognitive resilience. She is a lecturer at Vidzeme University.

Before joining the State Chancellery, she headed an information resilience programme as a senior programme manager at IREX, an international non-governmental organisation. She was also a visiting researcher at the Global Security and Cooperation Center of Sandia National Laboratories, where she focused on research security issues.

From 2022 to 2024, Denisa-Liepniece worked in the United Nations Department of Global Communications. She was also elected as an expert member of the Council of Europe’s Expert Committee on Strengthening Media Resilience.

She was a visiting researcher at New York University’s Jordan Center for the Advanced Study of Russia from 2021 to 2022 and a Jura Padega visiting fellow at Yale University in 2020.
