Russia sentences Lithuanian citizen to 13.5 years for espionage

Russia’s Kaliningrad Regional Court has sentenced a Lithuanian citizen to 13.5 years in prison for espionage, LRT reported on Wednesday, citing the Russian news agency Interfax.

The person, whose identity was not disclosed, was found guilty of spying for approximately 13 years and will serve the sentence in a strict-regime prison.

According to Interfax, the court found that the Lithuanian citizen collected and passed on information classified as a state secret in Russia between 2011 and 2024.

A mobile phone and equipment allegedly used for espionage were confiscated from the convicted person.
