Retired Major General Riho Ühtegi has withdrawn his bid to become Estonia’s next president because of a serious health condition, ERR reported.
“I am withdrawing from the further candidacy for president of the Republic of Estonia, as I received confirmation this week of serious damage to my health,” Ühtegi told Postimees.
“When I agreed to run, I set myself two factors that would rule out my candidacy, and one of them was health. Unfortunately, I could not have imagined that I would actually have to make such a decision,” he added.
