European study challenges assumptions about cities’ environmental impact

A new study reported by ERR shows that the assumption that city residents place far less strain on the environment than rural residents does not hold across Europe.
City dwellers have long been considered more environmentally friendly because they use public transport and often live in apartment buildings. However, the study found that the situation depends directly on the country and the wealth of its residents.
