ERR reports that an 11-year-old boy died after a serious electric scooter crash in Anija municipality, Harju County, on July 29.

The emergency centre received a report of the accident at around 2 p.m. The boy was riding a KuKirin G2 Master electric scooter when he apparently lost control on a straight stretch of road and fell, according to Madis Allak, the operational chief of the Northern Prefecture.

Paramedics took the boy to hospital, but he died late on Saturday morning despite efforts to save his life, Allak said.

Police believe, based on the information currently available, that the boy may have been travelling faster than permitted. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The manufacturer says the KuKirin G2 Master can reach a top speed of up to 60 kilometres per hour. The precise circumstances of the accident will be established in criminal proceedings.
