Roglic skips two races after car hits him

Slovenian professional cyclist Primož Roglič of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe will miss the Clásica San Sebastián and Vuelta a Burgos after being hit by a car during training, ERR reports.

Roglič escaped the accident without serious injuries but suffered a large bruise on the back of his leg. “I was hit by a car a few days ago. Unfortunately, I will not take part in San Sebastián or Burgos. It is not the best scenario, but that is life,” Roglič wrote on social media.

The experienced cyclist had been due to resume his season in the Basque Country on Saturday while preparing for the final stages of the Vuelta a España, the only Grand Tour he will compete in this year.

Despite Roglič’s absence, Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe will field one of the strongest teams at the Clásica San Sebastián. The team will be led by Remco Evenepoel, a Tour de France runner-up and three-time winner, who will start as one of the pre-race favourites.

Roglič will leave the German team at the end of the season after three years with the squad. He has focused his 2026 season entirely on the Vuelta, abandoning plans to target the Giro d’Italia and Tour de France. Before the training accident, he had raced on just 28 days.

If he starts the Vuelta in Monaco on August 22, Roglič will be one of the main favourites for overall victory. He won his first overall Vuelta title in Spain in 2019.
