Estonia’s U-18 girls lose convincingly to Austria

Estonia’s U-18 women’s basketball team lost 77-57 to Austria in their opening match at the Division B European Championship in Romania, ERR reported. Austria led throughout the game and held a lead of more than 10 points from the end of the second quarter until the final buzzer.

Sophie Kunert was Austria’s top scorer with 16 points. Laura Liisa Grünmann led Estonia with 16 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals, while also committing three turnovers and three personal fouls. Bia Aller added 13 points for Estonia.

Estonia will face Lithuania on Saturday. Ireland and Luxembourg are also in Group C, with Estonia scheduled to play Ireland on Sunday and Luxembourg on Wednesday.
