IFK Göteborg condemns Tallinn stadium vandalism and apologises

Swedish football club IFK Göteborg has condemned vandalism at Tallinn’s Lilleküla Stadium after its UEFA Conference League match against FCI Levadia and issued an official apology, ERR reported. The club said extensive property damage was caused during the away match.

The incident has been reported to UEFA and IFK Göteborg, and could result in fines and other disciplinary measures that may also affect the club’s supporters at future European matches.

“We are a friendly club whose values are friendship, passion and professionalism. We completely distance ourselves from the vandalism and apologise to FCI Levadia Tallinn, who welcomed us warmly in Estonia,” the club said in a statement published on its website.

IFK Göteborg said the events in Tallinn did not reflect the club’s values and that the actions of a few people could have financial and sporting consequences for the entire organisation, while harming the interests of thousands of law-abiding supporters.

The incident has also been reported to Estonian police, who are investigating it. IFK Göteborg said it considered personal responsibility important and would seek compensation from those responsible if the actions of one or more individuals resulted in fines or other costs for the club.
