Scammers defraud four Lithuanian residents of nearly €5,750

Scammers have defrauded four residents of Vilnius, Mažeikiai, Šakiai, and Šiauliai districts of nearly €5,750, according to reports from Lithuanian police.

In Vilnius, a 76-year-old woman reported that on July 15–16, unknown individuals posing as financial specialists fraudulently obtained €2,000 from her. Authorities have launched a pre-trial investigation into the fraud and unauthorized access to an information system.

In Mažeikiai, a 44-year-old woman transferred €1,150 in multiple payments to a bank account provided by a seller on Facebook for an apartment that was never delivered. Police have initiated a pre-trial investigation into the fraud.

In Šakiai district, a 28-year-old man transferred money for wood pellets advertised on social media but never received the goods. The reported financial loss amounts to €1,200, and a pre-trial investigation has been opened.

In Šiauliai district, a 63-year-old woman lost €1,400 after clicking a link in an SMS message and entering her bank details. Police have also launched a pre-trial investigation into this case.
