State funeral planned for Prunskienė, burial at Antakalnis Cemetery

Kazimira Danutė Prunskienė, the first prime minister of Lithuania after the restoration of independence, will be laid to rest at Antakalnis Cemetery in the Signatories’ Hill section, according to a statement from the prime minister’s representative Gedas Salyga reported by BNS.

State funeral arrangements are underway, though the exact timing will be announced later, Salyga said. Prunskienė passed away at the age of 83. She had been an active figure in Lithuanian politics for decades before suffering a stroke in 2012, which affected her speech and led to her withdrawal from active political life.
