Prosecutor Bagdonavičius charged with assaulting spouse, case sent to court

Panevėžys Regional Prosecutor’s Office has referred a criminal case to Kaunas Regional Court against Juozas Bagdonavičius, a prosecutor from the Kaunas District Prosecutor’s Office who was suspended from duty, on charges of minor health disorder of a family member and threats to kill, LRT reports.

The pre-trial investigation began after a victim’s report about a conflict at Bagdonavičius’ home on 27 June. The General Prosecutor’s Office also launched an internal review, and Bagdonavičius was immediately suspended.

Investigators from the Panevėžys County Chief Police Commissariat’s Criminal Police Serious Crimes Investigation Board gathered evidence suggesting that on 27 June, while intoxicated, Bagdonavičius intentionally struck his spouse at least five times on different parts of the body and threatened to kill her. The accused has admitted guilt.
