Scammers trick Kaunas woman out of €10,000

Scammers have defrauded a woman in Kaunas of €10,000, police reported on Thursday, citing an incident from the previous day.

A 1945-born woman contacted Kaunas County Police on Wednesday, stating that unknown individuals had called her at home on July 28–29. The callers, speaking Russian, posed as employees of Google, a bank, and police officers, deceiving her into handing over the money. She gave the cash to an unknown man who arrived at her home.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched.
