Two prison officers dismissed in Vilnius for arriving at work intoxicated

alcohol, prison service, vilniusTwo prison officers in Vilnius were dismissed from service on Tuesday after arriving at work under the influence of alcohol, the Lithuanian Prison Service (LPS) reported.
During a routine sobriety check of employees entering Vilnius Prison, a security management specialist was found to have a blood alcohol concentration of 0.11‰, while a resocialisation department specialist registered 0.30‰. Under current regulations, both were immediately suspended from duty.
The LPS stated that it consistently conducts both scheduled and unscheduled sobriety checks for officers, civil servants, and contract employees to ensure safe, reliable, and responsible operations.
