Two foreigners charged with large-scale drug trafficking in Lithuania

The Vilnius Regional Prosecutor’s Office has referred a criminal case to court, in which two foreign nationals, W. Sh. and Sw. S., are accused of smuggling large quantities of narcotic and psychotropic substances as part of an organised group, LRT reports.

The men, who reside in the capital, are also charged with the unlawful possession of a significant amount of narcotic substances with the intent to sell or distribute them.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the pre-trial investigation began in September 2025 after an employee at a parcel distribution terminal in Vilnius discovered a hidden compartment in a shipment and alerted police. The parcels, handed over by the suspects to a courier, were destined for the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain.

During a search of a rented apartment, police found a large quantity—nearly 2 kg (1,780.3 g)—of various psychotropic substances. Investigators allege that the suspects used specially adapted tools and methods to impregnate some of the psychotropic substances onto A4-sized sheets of paper. To evade customs control, they concealed these sheets in hidden compartments within the parcels.

The suspects have been remanded in custody, the strictest preventive measure. The case has been forwarded to the Vilnius Regional Court for examination.
