Scammers posing as financial experts defraud woman of €56,400

A woman in the Vilnius district lost €56,484 to Russian-speaking scammers posing as financial specialists, LRT reports, citing the Police Department.

The 1971-born victim reported the fraud to the Vilnius County Chief Police Commissariat on Monday. She stated that between June 12 and July 19, unknown individuals called her at home, identified themselves as financial experts, and deceived her into transferring the money.

Police have launched a pre-trial investigation into the fraud.
