Summer heat to return to Lithuania midweek

Lithuania will experience a return of summer-like warmth midweek, with temperatures potentially reaching 31°C on Friday, according to Tadas Kantautas, a forecaster at the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service.

The current rainy weather, brought by an atmospheric front, will begin to retreat eastward early Tuesday, allowing cooler air from the west to move in. While clouds will clear overnight, scattered showers may persist in some areas. By Tuesday morning, a new band of thicker clouds will approach western regions, increasing the likelihood of rain along the coast and in Samogitia. Strong westerly winds, with gusts up to 15–17 m/s, will accompany the precipitation.

Tuesday will see a mix of sun and clouds, with isolated showers and possible thunderstorms in many areas. Winds will remain strong, with gusts of 15–18 m/s. Temperatures will range from 9–14°C at night (15–17°C near the coast) to 17–22°C during the day.

Wednesday night will be cooler, with temperatures dropping to 8–13°C (14–17°C on the coast). Light rain may occur early in the night, with westerly winds persisting. Cloud cover will increase nationwide on Wednesday, though only scattered light showers are expected. The day will be warmer, with afternoon temperatures rising to 19–24°C.

Thursday will be dominated by a high-pressure system, bringing clear skies at night and partly cloudy conditions during the day. No rain is forecast. Nighttime temperatures will fall to 10–15°C, while daytime highs will reach a summery 22–27°C.

Friday will see the return of summer heat, with overnight lows of 11–16°C and daytime highs of 26–31°C. However, brief showers and thunderstorms may occur in the afternoon, particularly in western regions. The warm conditions are expected to continue into the weekend.
