Lithuania submits protest note to Russia over Ukraine attacks

Lithuania has formally protested to Russia over its recent mass attacks on Ukraine, which killed at least 10 civilians and injured over 100, the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) announced on Friday.

The protest note, delivered to a representative of the Russian Embassy in Vilnius, also condemned a Russian strike on the building of the Latvian honorary consulate in Slovyansk. The MFA emphasised that Russia’s aggressive actions against foreign diplomatic missions are deliberate and systematic.

The note underscores that such attacks violate the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations. Lithuania demanded that Russia immediately cease its “senseless destruction” of Ukraine, end its aggression, withdraw all occupation forces from internationally recognised Ukrainian territory, and compensate for damages inflicted on Ukraine.

According to the Baltic News Service (BNS), Russia struck a weapons exhibition near Kyiv on Friday, killing at least 10 people and injuring dozens more.
